These images show my framing specialist stretching Hot Rod Flames, a 30 x 40 inch image.  The bars are made specially to order, to my own dimensions, as there is no manufacturer that makes stretcher bars to the required depth.

Step 1

The canvas print is laid face down under the hand made stretcher frame.  Then its squared up to the frame, and is stapled along one edge.

Step 2

The canvas is then pulled taught, and stapled along the opposite side.
Step 3

The corners are then carefully “gallery wrap” folded.  This gives a clean appearance with no folds visible along the sides.
Step 4

The rear of the frame is then taped to cover the staples and the edge of the canvas for a cleaner appearance.
Step 5

Here you can see the completed corner, and tidy appearance of the finished fold.
Step 6

Brace plates are then tapped into each corner to pull the canvas tight and strengthen the frame. The plates fit snugly into a groove that has been routed out of the bar during the manufacturing process.
The finished image is checked.  I add a sticker on the reverse of the frame with the image title, and sign it on the bottom edge prior to shipping.
